In Chinese cuisine, green bean cake is one of the best and tasty snack for people, especially in summer days. people like to cook food with soy bean products since ancient times.
In the north, people often use mung bean or red beans to make sweet and refreshing cold cake to eat in hot days while people in the south are mostly processed the bean to soft and smooth paste to enjoy. In short, this easy green beans cake could satisfy different people in the family.
5 1/2 oz. green bean(mung beans), peeled
1 1/2 tsps agar-agar
2-3 tbsps granulate sugar
Sweet Osmanthus Flower for garnish
Rock sugar, dissolved with
Rinse peeled green beans, then soak in clean water for 3-4 hours.
Pour off the water, then add some clean water just cover the beans,.
In a big steamer with boiling water, cover and steam until they are blooming.
Remove and set aside.
Add granulate sugar, stirring fast.
Continue stirring until forming the paste.
In a slotted spoon, add the paste, press out the excess water.
In a pot, add a half of pressed mung bean paste.
Then according to your own desire, add the rock sugar water.
Stirring constantly for 5-10 minutes and well mixed. Then the delicious sweet green bean paste for people in south is ready to enjoy!
In another pot, add the another paste, pour the prepared agar-agar and Sweet Osmanthus Flower mixture.
Stirring around, then pour to refrigerate box and let it set for at least 1 hour or until thicken.
Sliced and cut the green bean cake into small pieces.
Place in a glass of bowl, serve and enjoy.
